Alziheimer RDO

Rho Delta Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. participated in the Alzheimer’s Association’s Longest Day event. The nationwide event, which occurs each year around the summer solstice, raises money to increase education, care and support resources for Alzheimer’s. This year, RDO’s Team BrainiAKA’s raised $1,435.00 for the Longest Day. On June 17, 2017, Team BrainiAKA’s found 10 Ways to Love Your Brain (https://www.alz.org/brain-health/10_ways-to-love-your-brain.asp). The day’s activities included a morning hike (Break A Sweat), a healthy lunch (Fuel Up Right), reading the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (Hit the Books), getting their heart health score (Know Your Heart) and a home health stress kit (Take Care of Your Mental Health) amongst other things. More than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s and two thirds of those living with Alzheimer’s are women. Each year nearly 15 million family & friends help those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementia. The Longest Day is a labor of love for RDO members seeking to advance research towards the prevention and cure of Alzheimer’s disease.
